Base Salary

$200k - $255k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the technical direction for learned scene estimation within the Kodiak Driver.
  • Architect and implement sensor-fusion approaches across camera, radar, lidar, thermal, and IMU modalities.
  • Improve multi-target tracking, including track initiation, measurement-to-track association, and track state maintenance.
  • Develop algorithms that create robust world models from noisy and incomplete measurements.
  • Build tooling, metrics, and visualization infrastructure for rigorous evaluation.
  • Set technical standards through design reviews, code reviews, and mentorship.
  • Partner across autonomy teams to translate perception performance into system-wide safety and reliability.

Requirements

  • BS or MS with at least 8 years of industry experience, or a PhD with at least 5 years, building and deploying state estimation and sensor fusion systems.
  • Deep expertise in sensor fusion, state estimation, Kalman filtering, particle filtering, and multi-object tracking.
  • Strong experience with deep learning and learned scene estimation.
  • Exceptional C++ skills and experience writing maintainable, production-quality code for high-reliability systems.
  • Ability to define metrics, design rigorous evaluations, and make data-informed engineering decisions.
  • Track record of technical leadership, driving ambiguous projects through shipment and mentoring teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including design documentation and cross-disciplinary alignment.
  • Experience with behavior prediction, scene understanding, real-time perception, autonomous vehicles, robotics, or team-level technical roadmaps is beneficial.
