Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Electron main-process, preload, renderer-integration, and supporting Node.js components.
- Configure Chromium and Electron runtime settings, command-line options, and build settings.
- Implement Windows desktop lifecycle behavior, operating-system integrations, hardware and system-information access, application protocols, and native functionality.
- Investigate crashes, runtime and memory issues, security concerns, installation problems, and web-to-desktop interactions.
- Build secure interfaces between web content and privileged desktop functionality using Electron security best practices.
- Write unit and integration tests and contribute to automated quality practices, code reviews, and technical documentation.
- Evaluate new Electron and Chromium versions, resolve compatibility issues, and use profiling, logging, developer tools, and operating-system diagnostics.
- Collaborate with quality, build/release, product, and engineering teams on production-ready desktop platform functionality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 1 year of professional software engineering experience.
- Experience developing with JavaScript or TypeScript and familiarity with Node.js and modern web application technologies.
- Understanding of source control, testing, debugging, code review, and software troubleshooting using logs, debuggers, and development tools.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies, apply guidance from senior engineers, and collaborate effectively.
- Preferred experience includes Electron or another desktop application framework, Chromium architecture or tooling, Windows desktop software, native Node.js modules, Windows APIs, desktop security, packaging, installers, code signing, performance diagnosis, and automated software delivery.
