Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize Java and Rust code for low-latency event-sourced systems with 10–100 microsecond response times.
- Build application frameworks and algorithmic trading utilities, including market data replay and back-test/simulation systems.
- Lead integration of functions, deployment of new products, and process enhancements.
- Analyze complex business, system, and industry processes to define and implement solutions.
- Provide subject-matter expertise in Java low-latency development, market data, algorithmic trading, and performance tuning.
- Consult with end users to define system specifications and incorporate them into system designs.
- Communicate with senior leaders and external parties, build consensus, and mentor junior and less experienced developers.
- Produce clear technical documentation and model key system aspects with UML sequence diagrams.
Requirements
- Demonstrated subject-matter expertise in application development.
- In-depth experience developing algorithmic trading applications, preferably in low-latency environments.
- Detailed experience with market data handling and associated technologies such as KDB and time-series databases.
- Strong Java development skills, including modern Java, the JVM, Linux, system calls, and kernel knowledge.
- Knowledge of TCP and other IP-based network protocols, including hardware-accelerated kernel bypass such as Solarflare OpenOnload.
- Experience with performance assessment, targeted tuning, application frameworks, event sourcing, and microservices-based systems.
- Demonstrated leadership, project management, architecture, communication, and development skills.
- Experience implementing projects and designing commercial-grade, mission-critical systems.
- C++ experience is preferred.
- Strong relationship-building, consensus-building, communication, and mentoring skills are required.
