
Lead Specialty Software Engineer - Algorithmic Trading, Java

- Lead complex software engineering initiatives and teams across electronic and algorithmic trading domains.
- Design, develop, test, implement, and optimize low-latency, high-throughput Java applications and system components.
- Develop and maintain exchange connectivity protocols such as FIX, ITCH, and OUCH.
- Build and support messaging and real-time data-processing systems for trading environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technically challenging coding, testing, platform, and production issues in real time.
- Lead risk management, regulatory compliance, monitoring, operational efficiency, and resource-utilization efforts.
- Mentor less experienced software engineers and collaborate with managers and stakeholders.
- Partner with product managers, traders, operations, production support, and platform engineering teams.
- Review and enhance system architecture, coding practices, processes, and architectural standards.
- Work across exchange connectivity, algorithmic trading, and time-series database areas as needed.
Requirements
- 5+ years of specialty software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing low-latency, high-throughput Java applications for financial trading.
- Required experience in electronic trading or algorithmic trading.
- Experience with exchange connectivity protocols such as FIX, ITCH, and OUCH.
- Experience with messaging systems such as Solace or Aeron and real-time data processing.
- Knowledge of low-latency optimization techniques, including garbage-collection tuning and efficient data structures.
- Familiarity with financial markets, trading systems, exchange platforms, and trading regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks such as Karate and Cucumber, and version control such as Git.
- Ability to lead initiatives, mentor engineers, resolve production issues, and collaborate across technical and business teams.
