Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and integrate a computer vision pipeline for ingesting, aligning, and detecting differences between engineering drawings.
- Deploy and optimize a locally hosted language model for CPU-based inference in resource-constrained environments.
- Generate structured, human-readable draft comparison reports for engineer review.
- Build and maintain a secure web interface for reviewing, annotating, approving, and correcting AI-generated findings.
- Implement ingestion and normalization routines for PDF, TIFF, CGM, DXF, and JPEG files.
- Ensure software components run on existing on-premise hardware without cloud infrastructure dependency.
- Produce and maintain design documents, API references, and user guides.
- Support a short-term contract anticipated to continue through the end of December 2026, with possible further work.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative field such as engineering or mathematics, or equivalent additional highly relevant experience and/or professional certifications.
- At least five years of professional software engineering experience, including recent AI/ML development experience.
- Experience applying programming concepts in a professional or academic setting.
- Experience with modern software development methodologies such as Agile, DevOps, or DevSecOps.
- Experience deploying and optimizing large language models for CPU-based inference in resource-constrained environments.
- Cybersecurity certification such as CompTIA Security+ or similar.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong communication skills.
- An existing active or interim Secret security clearance is required before hire.
- U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.
- Preferred qualifications include familiarity with DoD or Navy IT environments, network security requirements, or government-managed infrastructure.
- Agile Developer certification or Certified Scrum Developer certification is preferred.
