Responsibilities
- Own Nuon installation and day-2 operations for enterprise BYOC customers, including runner upgrades, control plane migrations, version rollouts, and incident response.
- Author and refine runbooks, policies, and versioned actions for repeatable customer environment operations.
- Maintain Nuon BYOC app configuration and treat it as product code.
- Build and maintain Nuon app configurations for customer applications during onboarding and proofs of concept.
- Monitor customer environments through Datadog, the admin dashboard, and platform telemetry, responding to alerts proactively.
- Execute customer-initiated break-glass operations with auditability and time-bound access controls.
- Operate and triage the underlying infrastructure stack, including ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, Temporal, control API, dashboard, and runner API.
- Coordinate change windows, migrations, and rollback plans with customer engineering teams.
- Partner with the IST-based on-call team on follow-the-sun handoffs.
- Feed operational issues into product development through bug reports, design documents, and requests for improved primitives.
- Communicate with and technically support customers in shared Slack channels.
- Contribute to Nuon’s documentation and knowledge base.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience as a customer-facing engineer, SRE, forward deployed engineer, or implementation engineer in infrastructure and/or developer tools.
- At least 3 years of production Kubernetes operations experience, including debugging pods, RBAC, ingress, and cluster upgrades.
- Proficiency with AWS and at least one of Google Cloud or Azure, with comfort across all three cloud providers.
- At least 2 years of Terraform experience.
- Strong Linux skills and networking expertise covering VPCs, load balancers, ingress controllers, and private connectivity.
- Hands-on production experience with at least one of PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, or Temporal.
- Ability to act as the technical face of Nuon, earn customer trust, run incident bridges, and explain trade-offs.
- Proficiency with AI tools such as Claude Code.
- Experience working at early-stage startups and a bias toward writing and improving operational runbooks.
- Extra credit includes BYOC, single-tenant, or on-premises enterprise SaaS deployment experience; prior full-stack or platform engineering experience; production Temporal workflow operations; SOC 2 or similar compliance work; and active technical writing on X and Hacker News.
