Base Salary
$195k - $343k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate critical scalable services such as user identity, friend graph, and core persistence systems.
- Work across teams to understand product requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver technical solutions.
- Test, debug, and maintain high-quality production-ready code.
- Advocate for availability, scalability, operational excellence, security, and cost-management best practices.
- Participate in incident or hotfix investigation and resolution when needed.
- Use AI tools and high-velocity engineering workflows while auditing output for architectural integrity, performance, and security.
- Provide technical leadership or serve as a domain expert to a technical organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent years of practical work experience.
- At least 9 years of post-bachelor's software development experience, or 8+ years with a master's degree, or 5+ years with a PhD.
- At least 1 year of technical leadership or domain-expert experience.
- Experience with backend services and distributed systems.
- A proven record of operating highly available systems at significant scale.
- Experience in at least one area such as large-scale microservices, cloud computing and storage, infrastructure and system design, security, networking and data storage, or machine learning and natural language processing tools.
- Preferred experience with Java, C++, Python, NoSQL solutions, Memcache, Redis, Kubernetes, Google services, or AWS services.
