Base Salary
$204k - $259k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop methodologies and metrics to measure simulation realism across agent behavior, sensor rendering, and environmental effects.
- Design scalable and efficient platforms and pipelines for measuring simulation realism across massive datasets.
- Research and implement systems that guide simulator development priorities.
- Identify system performance or realism gaps and create data-driven approaches to investigate them.
- Collaborate with engineering and research teams developing and using large-scale machine learning models to improve simulator fidelity.
- Contribute to a high-fidelity simulator used for Waymo Driver safety validation and performance evaluation.
Requirements
- MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of industry experience in software development.
- Proficiency in Python or C++, including relevant data-handling and computation libraries such as NumPy and Pandas.
- Experience with SQL for data querying and analysis.
- Experience with software design principles, coding best practices, testing methodologies, and version control software.
- Experience designing, implementing, and interpreting quantitative analyses or metrics using concepts such as distributions and confidence intervals.
- Experience taking quantitative findings through to productionized metrics, automated evaluation tools, or improvements to validation systems.
- Experience building software pipelines for data processing, system evaluation, or metric computation in large-scale systems.
- Preferred: expertise in quantitative evaluation methodologies and scalable data-processing or evaluation infrastructure.
- Preferred: experience defining technical strategy and roadmaps across complex technical and product landscapes.
- Preferred: experience with simulation systems, robotics, or autonomous vehicles.
