Base Salary
$100k - $130k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead systems analysis, architectural design, technology selection, and delivery of complex platform features.
- Architect scalable data services, pipelines, backend microservices, APIs, and PostgreSQL database schemas.
- Implement and maintain backend services and APIs using Python, Elixir, or Golang.
- Provide technical direction, architectural guidance, mentorship, and peer code reviews.
- Define testing strategies across unit, integration, and system levels.
- Prepare production releases, infrastructure changes, deployment plans, and rollback strategies.
- Troubleshoot distributed event-driven systems and microservices using observability systems, monitoring, and user reports.
- Create technical documentation, design artifacts, and architectural decision records.
- Guide thoughtful use of AI tools to improve reliability, efficiency, development velocity, and user value.
- Participate in the full software lifecycle within an Agile development process.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability to architect and deliver scalable systems with minimal oversight.
- Expertise in Python; experience with Elixir or Golang is a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
- Experience building and optimizing REST APIs and working with event-driven architecture.
- Understanding of data modeling, query performance tuning, distributed systems, microservices, and systems design.
- Familiarity with Azure, AWS, Terraform, CloudFormation, GitLab pipelines, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Ability to debug and optimize backend performance using modern observability tools.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code, DevOps practices, and containerized application orchestration.
- Ability to mentor peers, lead system design discussions, provide technical direction, and balance technical excellence with pragmatic delivery.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, independent judgment, collaboration, and willingness to learn new technologies.
