Senior Software Engineer — Maritime Optimization

Base Salary
$140k - $180k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop software for maritime voyage optimization, route evaluation, vessel performance modeling, and voyage analysis.
- Refine optimization algorithms and translate vessel performance and fuel-consumption models into software.
- Build simulation and evaluation tooling to assess optimizer behavior and route quality.
- Improve how route recommendations are scored, explained, and evaluated.
- Contribute to algorithms, models, services, APIs, testing, and related software components in Rust and Python.
- Collaborate with engineers, product experts, and maritime domain specialists to solve real-world optimization problems.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience contributing to production software.
- Experience with Python and/or a compiled language such as Rust, C++, C, or a similar language.
- Comfort with algorithms, data structures, and computational problems.
- Ability to translate domain or mathematical concepts into maintainable, testable software.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering and domain disciplines.
- Comfort working on software supporting U.S. Government and Department of Defense customers.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to successfully pass a background check.
- Preferred qualifications include a physics or related technical degree, optimization/modeling/simulation experience, maritime or naval experience, and prior U.S. Government or Department of Defense customer experience.
