Responsibilities
- Drive technology choices, implement services, and establish architectural patterns with broad and lasting platform impact.
- Architect, design, and develop software that enables Samsara to operate at scale.
- Lead teams and cross-organization projects delivering products and capabilities that contribute to Samsara’s products and revenue.
- Solve difficult technical problems while enabling high-quality, rapid product delivery.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and product teams using a platform-first approach to build products, tools, and solutions.
- Mentor and multiply the impact of engineers while fostering collaboration across frontend, mobile, firmware, vision, and ML teams.
- Influence platform technology and engineering culture and represent Samsara in external-facing forums.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 12+ years of experience in software design, development, and algorithm-related solutions, including at least 4 years in an architect or leadership role.
- 4+ years of experience building large-scale distributed systems.
- 4+ years of experience leading cross-organization projects.
- Expertise with web services at massive scale deployed on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Strong programming and coding fundamentals and expert-level knowledge of at-scale stream-processing decision engines.
- Preferred qualifications include 15+ years of relevant software development experience, experience mentoring engineers, production experience with JavaScript or client-side code, large-scale enterprise software experience, and a record of shipping production-quality software.
- Expertise writing high-quality, performant, and maintainable code in a modern programming language.
