Responsibilities
- Design, architect, develop, deploy, operationalize, and document customer data engineering, data science, cloud, big data, and AI solutions.
- Create reference architectures, how-to guides, reusable project artifacts, and productionized customer use cases.
- Guide strategic customers through transformational big data projects, third-party migrations, and end-to-end application implementation.
- Facilitate technical workshops, discovery and design sessions, requirements gathering, and scoping for strategic customers.
- Work with engagement managers and project managers on professional services scope, estimates, timelines, proposals, statements of work, and risk mitigation.
- Integrate Databricks solutions with customer systems and provide training, knowledge transfer, enablement, and mentoring.
- Provide escalated support for customer operational issues and help resolve engagement-specific product and implementation issues with Engineering and Customer Support.
- Ensure Databricks best practices and quality standards are followed throughout customer projects.
- Provide technical leadership and client-engagement best practices to the consulting team and other teams.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms, and analytics for the technical lead-level role; 6+ years for the Resident Solutions Architect level; and 9+ years for the Senior Resident Solutions Architect level.
- Comfort writing code in Python or Scala, including object-oriented and functional programming.
- Working knowledge of at least two cloud ecosystems among AWS, Azure, and GCP, with expertise in at least one for some levels.
- Deep or strong experience with distributed computing and Apache Spark, including Spark runtime internals for higher levels.
- Experience designing and deploying scalable, performant end-to-end data architectures and cloud-native streaming and batch solutions.
- Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments and working knowledge of MLOps for some levels.
- Experience with technical project delivery, including managing scope, timelines, effort estimation, and risk.
- Strong documentation, whiteboarding, client engagement, conflict management, and customer workshop skills.
- Databricks Certification is required or preferred depending on level.
- Ability to travel to customers 20% of the time.
