Responsibilities
- Own the engineering experience for external payload partners integrating with Muon’s software platform, including commanding, telemetry, payload management, fault detection and recovery, and data downlink.
- Partner with Flight Software, Mission Engineering, and Systems Engineering to influence payload interface design and evolution.
- Lead customer-facing technical exchanges, design reviews, and integration test campaigns as the named software technical point of contact.
- Author and maintain customer-facing developer guides, sample code, reference applications, and the Payload Accommodation Guide.
- Maintain epics, estimate forward-looking work, and escalate roadmap changes or delays early.
- Define and track customer payload-integration metrics and manage OKRs for the area of responsibility.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong fluency in modern C++ and Python.
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including shipping software used by external customers.
- Excellent coding, design, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred experience includes spaceflight or safety- and mission-critical embedded software, third-party payload integration with a satellite bus, developer SDKs, customer-facing technical documentation, partner-integration programs, Linux-based real-time systems, embedded networking protocols, negotiation, and customer alignment.
