Responsibilities
- Conduct discovery with attorneys and compliance professionals to identify legal workflow automation opportunities and translate them into technical solutions.
- Architect and build AI applications for contract review, legal research, regulatory analysis, and compliance workflows.
- Develop scalable document ingestion, parsing, OCR, chunking, embedding, indexing, and processing pipelines for unstructured legal content.
- Ship and monitor production AI features using LLM APIs, orchestration frameworks, and deployment pipelines.
- Build evaluation frameworks, test sets, quality metrics, and automated evaluation pipelines for legal AI outputs.
- Implement data security controls, access management, audit logging, PII redaction, and data residency compliance.
- Translate legal user needs into product and technical requirements and help prioritize roadmap features.
- Lead, educate, and mentor legal team members in developing no-code AI solutions; deliver demos and training.
- Partner with IT and Data & AI teams on scalable AI solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and governance standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; a Master's or advanced degree is a plus.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in software engineering, data science, or machine learning engineering with a record of shipping production applications.
- Production experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, RAG architecture, agent and tool-use development, and evaluation frameworks.
- Strong Python programming skills and experience with AI/ML libraries and frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Hugging Face; TypeScript or Java experience is a plus.
- Experience using AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot in production software development.
- Experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, or Qdrant; cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP; API design; Docker; and Kubernetes.
- Experience designing data pipelines and document-processing systems for unstructured content at scale, including parsing, OCR, entity extraction, and classification.
- Interest or experience in legal, compliance, or regulatory domains, including legal technology, contract analytics, regulatory technology, legal operations, paralegal work, law school coursework, or a JD.
- Experience deploying AI solutions in regulated industries is a plus.
- Experience with agentic AI patterns, human-in-the-loop oversight, tool calling, MCP servers, and structured outputs is a plus.
- Experience with enterprise AI governance, responsible AI, model evaluation, bias testing, explainability, and frameworks such as the EU AI Act is a plus.
- Willingness to travel 10–25% for meetings and conferences.
