Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement embedded and on-device software modules and systems across the Android stack, Core Platform, and SDKs.
- Lead complex technical and product efforts involving multiple engineers and drive feature development and commercialization.
- Perform software design, coding, unit testing, debugging, integration, code reviews, issue triage, and fixes.
- Analyze user needs, software requirements, and time and cost constraints to build efficient software solutions.
- Collaborate with hardware, systems, and test engineers to ensure end-to-end project compatibility.
- Write detailed technical documentation and provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and 4+ years of software engineering or related experience; alternatively, a master's degree with 3+ years or a PhD with 2+ years.
- At least 2 years of work experience with a programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
- Strong expertise in a modern multi-paradigm language such as C++, Java, or Rust, with 7+ years of experience or proven expertise shipping software at scale preferred.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, operating system concepts, concurrency, and interfaces.
- Experience or familiarity with ARM processors, mobile SoC architecture, hypervisors or virtualization, security, memory, debugging, performance monitoring, and mobile memory management.
- Strong Git proficiency and familiarity with release engineering and CI/CD environments.
- Preferred experience with embedded Linux or Android operating systems, Android OS, SDK/NDK, HALs, Security, Treble, SDK development, API design, open-source projects, standards bodies, or external partners.
- Leadership experience involving decisions affecting multiple teams and experience driving organizational change or leading complex technical projects.
