Base Salary
$104k - $118k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, debug, and maintain embedded C firmware for OpenWrt-based ARM/MIPS residential gateways.
- Develop OpenSync managers and OVSDB-based cloud configuration and telemetry reporting.
- Implement LTE/5G failover, fallback, modem management, route arbitration, WAN health checks, and recovery state machines.
- Configure WiFi radios and troubleshoot Qualcomm, Broadcom, and Atheros wireless drivers.
- Debug Linux kernel, PCIe, USB, networking, driver, crash, and field issues using logs, crash dumps, and remote diagnostics.
- Implement secure TLS/mTLS cloud connectivity, GRE/IPsec tunnels, OpenWrt initialization and configuration handlers, factory reset, firmware upgrade, and persistent storage functionality.
- Write unit tests, participate in GitLab merge requests, and collaborate with hardware, QA, cloud platform, and service provider teams.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of embedded C development experience on Linux-based platforms.
- Strong C programming skills, including pointers, memory management, IPC, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with OpenWrt build systems, package management, UCI, JFFS2, and SquashFS.
- Experience with OpenSync or similar cloud-managed CPE frameworks, including OVSDB, protobuf, and MQTT telemetry.
- Experience integrating cellular modems using AT commands, QMI, network interface management, USB, and PCIe/MHI.
- Strong understanding of Linux networking, routing, IPv4/IPv6, DHCP, SLAAC, prefix delegation, netfilter, bridges, TLS, X.509 certificates, GRE, IPsec, VPN overlays, and secure encapsulation.
- Experience with event loop frameworks such as libev or libuv and debugging tools including GDB, strace, tcpdump, valgrind, kernel logs, and serial consoles.
- Proficiency with Git, GitLab CI/CD, cross-compilation toolchains, Shell scripting, and Python test automation.
- Understanding of WiFi standards and wireless driver configuration, including 802.11ax/be.
- Preferred qualifications include Qualcomm IPQ or Broadcom BCM SoC experience, DOCSIS, eSIM/eUICC, carrier aggregation, NR5G, TR-069/TR-369, TR-181, Kconfig, flash storage, thermal and power management, hardware bring-up, BSP development, and ISP/MSO/OEM collaboration.
