Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable distributed-system components using distributed state management and data-plane platforms.
- Optimize systems for large-scale data retrieval, storage, and processing, and review implementations for scalability.
- Build fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
- Develop and execute performance, load, fault-injection, brown-out, and functional tests.
- Create alarms, dashboards, telemetry, alerting, runbooks, and operational procedures to monitor and recover system components.
- Diagnose and resolve operational issues, participate in incident response and root-cause investigations, and support operational rotations.
- Implement troubleshooting automation and Infrastructure as Code for cloud infrastructure maintenance.
- Apply encryption, access controls, security remediation, compliance standards, and change-management procedures.
Requirements
- 5+ years of industry experience working on commercial or open-source software.
- Strong fluency in C++, Java, or similar modern programming languages.
- Deep understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
- Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud infrastructure and building cloud-scale control-plane systems.
- Strong systems-programming skills, including multithreading and concurrency.
- Understanding of distributed-systems concepts such as consistency, scaling, and failure recovery.
- Experience with testing, debugging, and documentation in a Linux development environment.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science required; master's degree preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, willingness to question, and passion for making systems.
