Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and build core components of edge-computing and spatial-intelligence platforms.
- Develop an edge runtime and integration platform for connected devices across the home.
- Build software models and knowledge structures for device and home information.
- Take technical concepts from exploration and prototypes through production implementation.
- Evaluate technologies and architectures for scalability, reliability, performance, portability, and maintainability.
- Provide architectural guidance, review code and designs, establish engineering practices, and mentor engineers.
- Collaborate with Innovation, IoT, mobile, embedded-firmware, and other technical teams.
- Contribute to R&D planning by identifying opportunities, shaping concepts, and communicating recommendations.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in technology environments.
- Hands-on software development experience in compiled programming languages such as Rust, C/C++, or Go.
- Software systems engineering experience building foundational technologies such as databases, operating systems, compilers, networking, cybersecurity, or virtualization.
- Experience in R&D, advanced development, prototyping, or a similarly exploratory technical environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical needs, architectural decisions, tradeoffs, and recommendations.
- Experience taking ideas from prototype to product and designing foundational systems, runtimes, network stacks, protocols, or similar infrastructure.
- Experience with networking, network protocols, cybersecurity or secure systems, edge or distributed computing, and resource-constrained environments.
- Experience with knowledge graphs, ontologies, semantic technologies, intelligent agents, IoT ecosystems, embedded Linux, Yocto, embedded RTOS environments, asynchronous programming, containers, WebAssembly, virtualization, application portability, and end-to-end platform development is valued.
- Experience with software quality, testing, version control, continuous integration, and a major cloud platform; Resideo uses Azure.
- Ability to learn from prior technical approaches, work independently, collaborate in planning, and adapt processes in an exploratory R&D environment.
