Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain production-quality simulation components using modern C++ and Python.
  • Integrate driving-stack components, simulated robot systems, and vehicle-platform capabilities into the shared simulation environment.
  • Support multiple simulation configurations and ensure correct interaction across workflows.
  • Investigate discrepancies between on-road and simulated execution across data, inference, and simulated components.
  • Improve simulation reproducibility, reliability, debuggability, and developer tooling through automated testing and observability.
  • Profile and optimize simulator performance for increasingly large evaluation workloads.
  • Work with internal users and adjacent engineering teams to clarify requirements, resolve integration issues, and deliver scoped improvements.
  • Contribute to technical designs and improve the quality and maintainability of the simulation codebase.

Requirements

  • Professional experience developing, delivering, and maintaining production software in a collaborative engineering environment.
  • Strong C++ and Python development skills, with depth in at least one and effective working ability in both.
  • Relevant experience in simulation, robotics, autonomous systems, or similarly complex systems with interacting software components.
  • Understanding of software and data-oriented design, including maintainable, reusable, and extensible code.
  • Experience debugging complex systems and reasoning about interfaces, data flows, timing, and failure modes.
  • Understanding of common software performance issues and pragmatic design trade-offs.
  • Ability to independently deliver scoped features, communicate progress, and raise risks or blockers early.
  • Experience using generative-AI development tools such as coding assistants or agents, with careful review, testing, and validation of their output.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Desirable experience includes autonomous vehicles or robotics, vehicle or robot dynamics, middleware, complex-system integration, sensor data, machine-learning inference in production, performance profiling, observability, distributed systems, large-scale batch processing, cloud infrastructure, or GPU workloads.

Benefits

  • Full-time position based in Wayve’s London office.
  • Hybrid working policy combining office and workshop time with working from home.
  • Core working hours with flexibility to determine a suitable schedule with the team.
  • Inclusive interview experience with accommodations or adjustments available on request.
