Base Salary
$110k - $145k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and scale distributed backend systems handling high-throughput, real-time data.
- Profile, debug, and optimize Go and Rust services by identifying bottlenecks and shipping fixes.
- Contribute to data federation architecture, including S3 integration, graduation pipelines, and downstream data services.
- Build and evolve gRPC service interfaces and REST/JSON APIs for internal and external users.
- Design schemas, optimize queries, and develop durability patterns across SQL and NoSQL data stores.
- Collaborate with platform engineers and technical leads on infrastructure decisions.
- Instrument, monitor, and debug production systems, including on-call support, root cause analysis, and incident follow-through.
Requirements
- 2–5+ years of backend engineering experience focused on distributed or high-availability systems.
- Production experience with Go and experience using Python for tooling or data workflows.
- Familiarity with gRPC and REST/JSON API design at scale; GraphQL gateway experience and binary serialization knowledge are beneficial.
- Production experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL and NoSQL data stores.
- Experience deploying, scaling, managing resources for, and debugging Kubernetes systems.
- Exposure to AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud infrastructure, particularly compute, storage, and data services.
- Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tooling experience is a plus.
- Experience with complex systems work such as monolith-to-microservice transitions, cloud migrations, data pipelines, or consumer-scale workloads.
- Strong debugging skills, including reading flame graphs, finding bottlenecks, and shipping fixes; load testing or chaos engineering experience is beneficial.
- Background in ecommerce, fintech, or consumer-scale SaaS is helpful but not required.
- US person status is required, including US citizenship, permanent residency, asylum status, or refugee status, because the role requires access to ITAR- or EAR-protected information.
