Responsibilities
- Design and develop IOS-XR forwarding features for QoS, mirroring, slowpath, OAM, EVPN, VPLS, SRv6, Segment Routing, and MPLS.
- Implement NPU data-plane logic, including efficient packet processing, NPU microcode, and SDK interactions.
- Debug complex defects using logs, core dumps, packet traces, and component-level hardware/software analysis.
- Profile and optimize code to reduce latency and improve throughput against service-provider performance requirements.
- Use AI/LLM-based tools for code generation, unit-test creation, static analysis, debugging, and automated testing.
- Participate in modern software development practices including CI/CD, Git, and code reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of embedded software development experience for networking products.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python scripting.
- Experience with NPU-based data-plane architectures such as Broadcom DNX, Silicon One, or ezChip.
- Strong knowledge of L2/L3 forwarding, QoS, mirroring, OAM, EVPN, VPLS, SRv6, Segment Routing, MPLS, IPv4/IPv6, and related networking mechanisms.
- Experience with technologies or mechanisms including TE tunnels, GRE tunnels, BFD, BGP Flowspec, ACLs, and slowpath forwarding.
- Understanding of carrier-grade networking operating systems and service-provider router deployments.
- Experience debugging complex embedded software issues and hardware/software interactions, including memory-management problems.
- Experience with ClearCase, Valgrind, DDTS, GDB, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and code review processes.
- Preferred experience with IOS-XR or similar carrier-grade network operating systems, BCM, Silicon One, ezChip NPU programming, and AI/ML tools for software engineering.
