Base Salary
$260k - $275k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship full-stack features covering data models, APIs, interfaces, architecture, and production support.
- Set technical standards for architecture, API design, testing strategy, and documentation.
- Make trade-off decisions across performance, security, cost, and delivery timelines.
- Improve technical debt, reliability, observability, and developer experience.
- Mentor engineers through pairing, code reviews, structured feedback, and growth planning.
- Lead architecture and code reviews, break down initiatives, sequence delivery, and keep the squad unblocked.
- Support engineering interviews, onboarding, hiring standards, and onboarding materials.
- Own the delivery and health of the squad’s work, including risk management and quality.
- Partner with engineering leadership, product managers, and QA on roadmaps, requirements, test coverage, release readiness, and incident follow-up.
- Communicate technical decisions and risks to non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software development experience shipping and operating production web applications.
- Depth in at least one modern server-side language and framework and one frontend framework, such as PHP/Laravel, Python, Node/TypeScript, Ruby, or Go.
- Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar languages, frameworks, and problem domains and ship production software in them.
- Experience leading projects and mentoring engineers as a technical lead, staff engineer, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of API design and scalable application architecture.
- Advanced relational database skills, including schema design, query optimization, and caching strategy.
- Experience with authentication and authorization across multiple systems and environments.
- Experience integrating multiple data sources and third-party APIs into coherent systems.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence technical direction without formal authority.
- Experience with AWS or another cloud platform and CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
- Strong automated testing practice is preferred.
- Exposure to PHP/Laravel or Vue.js is preferred.
- Fintech, financial services, or regulated-environment experience is preferred.
- Experience building AI or LLM-powered production features is preferred.
- Prior experience growing a team or defining engineering processes is preferred.
