Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the agent harness that runs the agent loop, manages context and tools, executes tool calls, and streams results.
  • Support multi-step tasks across apps, including interruption handling and clean task resumption.
  • Optimize real-time systems for latency, memory, power, and reliability across Mac, iPhone, and Apple Watch.
  • Diagnose stalled streaming responses and failures involving models, context, or runtimes.
  • Use evaluations to measure and improve LLM and agent behavior.
  • Take features from design through production while growing ownership of the core runtime.
  • Collaborate with modeling, tools, context, app, framework, and research teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 2+ years of industry experience.
  • Strong programming skills in a systems language such as Swift, C++, Rust, Objective-C, or Go.
  • Strong foundation in concurrency, inter-process communication, and performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience building LLM-powered systems such as agents, tool calling, or prompt and context design through professional work or substantial personal projects.
  • Daily use of agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Pi, with informed opinions about effective harness design.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to make progress on ambiguous problems.
  • Preferred experience with Swift, Apple platform development, agent harnesses, orchestration frameworks, multi-step tool-use systems, model inference integration, streaming protocols, latency-sensitive client-server systems, LLM evaluations, and APIs or platforms used by other engineering teams.
  • Preferred familiarity with privacy and security engineering in production systems and current research in context engineering, tool use, and long-horizon agents.
