Base Salary
$130k - $160k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and iteratively improve service level objectives and indicators that reflect customer and business expectations.
- Standardize monitoring and alerting through monitors as code, including severity, ownership, and runbook quality gates.
- Establish observability standards for metrics, logs, traces, instrumentation, and dependency mapping.
- Evaluate observability platforms and integrations through technical proofs of concept and define adoption and migration plans.
- Define reliability and operability standards for Kubernetes services, including scaling, resource constraints, rollout safety, dashboards, and alerts.
- Build automation for incident workflows, runbooks, remediation, repeatability, and reduced operational toil.
- Serve as Incident Commander for high-severity incidents, lead postmortems, and drive systemic corrective actions.
- Participate in on-call rotations while reducing alert noise and improving signal quality.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in SRE or related roles, with technical seniority across multiple services and teams.
- Strong production experience with AWS and Kubernetes.
- Experience defining SLOs and SLIs and using them to guide operational and engineering decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to design observability solutions that provide actionable insights and reduce alert fatigue.
- Strong infrastructure-as-code skills, preferably with Terraform, and experience building reusable automation and standards.
- Familiarity with Postgres, MongoDB, DynamoDB, and failure modes of managed data stores in distributed systems.
- Experience with at least two observability stacks, such as Prometheus/Grafana, New Relic, Splunk, CloudWatch, or ELK.
- Strong incident response, debugging, distributed-systems investigation, and postmortem leadership skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence engineering teams through standards and practical guidance.
