$297k - $350k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define the technical vision and architecture for Asana’s AI platform, agent systems, and Studio.
- Lead cross-team initiatives involving agent runtime and orchestration, agent context and memory, and enterprise-scale LLM inference.
- Set standards for AI quality through offline and online evaluation, production monitoring, and feedback loops.
- Guide decisions on model and vendor strategy, build versus buy, and shared platform abstractions.
- Influence R&D-wide AI strategy and advise senior leadership on the evolving model and agent landscape.
- Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, Security, and Legal to deliver reliable enterprise AI features.
- Mentor staff and senior engineers, develop technical leads, and raise the quality of design and architecture reviews.
- Represent Asana’s AI engineering work through talks, writing, community engagement, and senior-talent recruiting.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience building production software, including significant experience as a technical lead across multiple teams.
- 3+ years of experience building production systems with LLMs or machine learning, including agents, retrieval, evaluation, or inference infrastructure.
- Demonstrated success leading architecture and initiatives across organizational boundaries.
- Deep experience with distributed systems and reliability, latency, and cost challenges at scale.
- Hands-on fluency with foundation models, agent frameworks, tool use, and evaluation methods.
- Strong communication skills across engineering, product, business, and executive audiences.
- Experience coaching and mentoring engineers, including senior and staff-level engineers.
- Experience with multi-tenant enterprise SaaS and AI security, privacy, and data governance is preferred.
- Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies and willingness to use them to improve productivity and decision-making.
