Base Salary

$135k - $200k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable Python and/or Go backend services for underwriting decisioning and automation.
  • Integrate statistical and machine learning models to assess, price, and monitor cyber risk.
  • Create and maintain alerts, monitors, and dashboards for operational stability, observability, and incident response.
  • Write clean, tested code with robust unit and integration tests.
  • Lead small projects end-to-end and act as a technical driver on medium-to-large initiatives.
  • Contribute to architecture and design discussions focused on pragmatism, scalability, and decoupling.
  • Automate and improve underwriting and decisioning workflows for internal underwriters and risk teams.
  • Collaborate with product, underwriting, data, and engineering partners.

Requirements

  • Strong experience building and operating backend APIs and services in Python and/or Go.
  • Hands-on experience with REST and at least one additional transport or format such as gRPC or GraphQL.
  • Experience with source control systems such as Git or similar tools.
  • Practical experience deploying and running services in AWS or another major public cloud environment.
  • Familiarity with observability and error-tracking tools such as Sentry, Datadog, Jaeger, Zipkin, Graylog, or AppDynamics.
  • Experience working on an agile software team and using collaborative development tools such as the Atlassian suite, GitHub, or GitLab.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • P4-caliber ownership, including independently driving moderate-scope projects, making technical tradeoffs, and mentoring less-experienced engineers.
