Responsibilities

  • Translate market requirements into product requirements and develop the robot portion of functional designs.
  • Perform technical analysis and create flowcharts, interface specifications, communication diagrams, and other engineering documents.
  • Define automation components, including hardware, sensors, and actuators, for robot grippers and peripherals.
  • Develop robot code using ABB Robot Studio and third-party path planners.
  • Create, validate, and execute test plans, proof-of-concept tests, integration tests, simulations, and commissioning activities.
  • Coordinate supplier prototype testing and perform in-house and onsite commissioning for pilot projects.
  • Write documentation, provide training, and collaborate with robotics, software, vision, controls, product, and portfolio teams.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree in electromechanics, electronics, or automation, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong mechanical reasoning skills and the ability to visualize work output.
  • Robot programming experience, particularly with RAPID, is an asset.
  • Willingness to complete robotics training through ABB’s Training Academy.
  • Pragmatic, solution-oriented, hands-on, detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative approach.
  • Ability to work within framework constraints while developing creative solutions.
  • Fluency in Dutch or French and good knowledge of English.
