Responsibilities
- Write and support SQL queries and stored procedures in a SaaS environment.
- Develop database code, models, structures, processes, functions, tables, views, triggers, and indexes.
- Assist with and provide leadership for data migration between different generations of applications.
- Support data acquisition for an online product and implement new data products with the application development team.
- Tune complex queries, refine schemas, and improve database performance, capacity, functionality, and deployment.
- Define database physical structures, functional capabilities, security, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery specifications.
- Implement and maintain automated database maintenance plans and backup routines.
- Research and implement relevant database technologies while enforcing database development best practices.
- Communicate with technical, application, and operational teams to maintain database integrity and security.
- Produce high-quality, maintainable database source code and clear technical documentation.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of database development experience with significant Microsoft SQL Server experience.
- Ability to write and troubleshoot SQL code and create stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, and indexes.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or later and its internals, with emphasis on query performance.
- Experience with ETL processing and ETL tools such as SSIS.
- Understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and best practices.
- Experience with data migration between different generations of an online product is desirable.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject is preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience with a scripting language such as Python is desirable.
- Cloud-environment experience emphasizing AWS, data modeling experience, and relational database administration experience are desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively across sites and time zones.
