Base Salary
$144k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build systems for scientific intent, experiment planning, protocol execution, sample and asset state, operational events, and results capture.
- Design and implement secure, high-quality, well-documented user interfaces and APIs for scientists, automation systems, ML workflows, and AI-driven applications.
- Develop front-end and backend services focused on performance, maintainability, and reliability.
- Create domain models, schemas, indexes, and data contracts across SQL, NoSQL, vector databases, data lakehouses, and other scientific data systems.
- Diagnose bottlenecks and improve performance, observability, reliability, and operational excellence for production systems.
- Use AWS services, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices to build and deploy production-grade systems.
- Collaborate with scientists, ML researchers, platform engineers, data engineers, automation teams, and product managers.
- Contribute to architecture discussions, code reviews, testing practices, documentation, and shared engineering standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4–6+ years of engineering experience building and deploying large-scale production systems.
- Strong expertise in front-end engineering, backend engineering, or data modeling and system design, with the ability to work across the stack.
- Strong experience with TypeScript and React; Python experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining reliable, performant, and maintainable APIs, services, and application components.
- Experience with SQL and at least one of NoSQL databases, vector databases, search systems, or data lakehouse architectures, including schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
- Experience operating production software through debugging, monitoring, performance tuning, and reliability improvements.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills with engineers, product teams, scientists, or other domain experts.
- Ability to own ambiguous technical problems, make practical trade-offs, and deliver maintainable solutions.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants or AI-augmented engineering workflows.
- Bonus experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, containerization, Terraform, CloudFormation, GitHub Actions, Flyte, Temporal, Airflow, or Prefect.
- Experience with laboratory, scientific workflow, LIMS, ELN, data platform, or ML platform products is a bonus.
- Experience designing systems supporting auditability, traceability, reproducibility, data provenance, or regulated workflows is a bonus.
