Senior Software Engineer, Enterprise Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the engineering front line for key enterprise accounts in Unthread.
  • Investigate customer questions and production issues by reading code, tracing behavior, inspecting signals, and identifying root causes.
  • Diagnose, fix, and validate bugs with customers.
  • Design and implement product or platform features when they are the best solution to customer problems.
  • Coordinate urgent issues in customer Slack channels while retaining technical ownership through resolution.
  • Represent engineering in customer office hours and recurring account meetings.
  • Partner with customer-facing and product teams and maintain clear ownership and escalation paths.
  • Identify recurring problems and improve tooling, documentation, observability, APIs, and product surfaces.
  • Help define the operating model, technical standards, and culture of the new team.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering experience and the ability to write production-quality code in a large, evolving codebase.
  • Generalist engineering capability with meaningful depth in backend, distributed systems, infrastructure, data systems, or developer platforms.
  • Excellent debugging skills, including moving from an imprecise report to a reproducible problem, root cause, and robust fix.
  • Comfort operating in production and using logs, traces, metrics, and code to reason about system behavior.
  • Ability to balance quick contained fixes with broader solutions and appropriate escalation.
  • Clear, empathetic communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Composure, sound judgment, low ego, and high ownership in urgent and ambiguous situations.
  • Interest in learning broad codebases, working close to customers, implementing solutions, and helping build a new team.
