Base Salary
$219k - $301k/yr
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the technical strategy and multi-year roadmap for the Robotics OS, including BSP, kernel, OS image, update systems, real-time behavior, GPU platform, and fleet tooling.
- Architect a reproducible, hermetic, secure, and fast Yocto/meta-tegra OS image build.
- Define atomic A/B and OTA update, rollback, secure boot, verified boot, signing, fusing, and factory provisioning strategies.
- Design the real-time architecture for CPU, interrupt, memory, and GPU sharing between control loops and AI models, including latency budgets and measurement infrastructure.
- Collaborate with NVIDIA Jetson engineering teams on requirements, upstream fixes, and Jetson Linux and JetPack adoption.
- Partner with hardware, firmware, electrical, and mechanical engineers on SoC, carrier-board, interface, power, and thermal design.
- Drive end-to-end bring-up of boards and modules, including boot chain, BPMP, device tree, pinmux, connectivity, power profiles, and robot hardware drivers.
- Improve RT kernel and out-of-tree driver quality through kernel configuration, ABI compatibility, and upstreaming or patch-alignment strategies.
- Build crash and kernel-log capture, symbolization, boot-time tracing, health telemetry, and fleet triage tooling.
- Mentor engineers, conduct design reviews, support technical hiring, grow embedded and OS talent, and help shape on-call practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of experience building and shipping embedded Linux or Android-based system software.
- Experience architecting and owning an operating system, BSP, or platform software stack on shipped hardware.
- Deep experience with C and Linux kernel internals, including device drivers, device tree, scheduling, interrupts, and memory management.
- Proficiency in at least one of C++, Rust, or Python.
- Experience bringing up new SoCs or boards on ARM64 from boot chain through kernel to a production OS.
- Experience designing OS image build and release systems such as Yocto/OpenEmbedded, Buildroot, Debian packaging, or AOSP, including update and release strategies.
- Experience debugging cross-layer issues spanning hardware, firmware, kernel, and user space.
- Experience influencing technical direction across multiple teams or organizations, including external silicon or hardware vendors.
- Preferred: experience scaling platforms from prototype to production fleets and contributing upstream to Linux kernel, Yocto, or related open-source projects.
- Preferred: experience with secure boot, verified boot, OTA/A/B updates, EtherCAT, CAN-FD, FreeRTOS, Zephyr, CUDA, NVML/MIG, TensorRT, NVIDIA Jetson, Jetson Linux, JetPack, real-time Linux, PREEMPT_RT, Yocto/meta-tegra, hermetic build and CI systems, AOSP, HALs, SELinux, init, and vendor BSP integration.
