Responsibilities
- Own the test strategy for platform services across unit, integration, contract, end-to-end, and performance testing.
- Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks and suites primarily in Rust, with Python or TypeScript as appropriate.
- Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, reduce flaky tests, and maintain fast feedback loops.
- Build test environments and test data for distributed systems using containers, mocks, and service virtualization.
- Write API and contract tests for REST service-to-service communication.
- Run and analyze performance, load, and resilience tests and translate results into engineering actions.
- Review code and design documents for testability and quality risks.
- Investigate production incidents and defects, identify coverage gaps, and add regression coverage.
- Verify fixes for security findings and mentor engineers on testing practices.
- Track and report escaped defects, flakiness rate, pipeline duration, and coverage metrics.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of software engineering or test automation experience, including at least 3 years as an SDET or in a similar role.
- Strong programming skills in at least one systems or general-purpose language; Rust is preferred, while Go or C++ with willingness to learn Rust is acceptable.
- Experience testing microservices and distributed systems in production.
- Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins and with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with API testing and contract testing.
- Working knowledge of performance testing tools such as k6, Locust, or Gatling.
- Ability to debug across service boundaries using logs, metrics, and traces.
- Experience in security.
