Base Salary
$238k - $288k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the design and operation of reliable billing services covering usage metering, pricing, invoicing, and payment integrations.
- Build real-time and batch processing pipelines for usage tracking and cost calculation.
- Develop APIs and services that give customers transparent insight into usage and spend.
- Implement flexible pricing and billing capabilities for evolving cloud offerings and new product launches.
- Build validation, reconciliation, observability, error-handling, and other safeguards that ensure billing accuracy and auditability.
- Partner with Finance, Product, Customer Success, Support, and engineering teams on requirements and revenue workflows.
- Drive architectural decisions for long-term scalability and flexibility of the billing platform.
- Lead design discussions, review code, mentor engineers, improve hiring practices, and raise the technical bar across the team.
Requirements
- Experience building or working on billing, payments, metering, financial systems, or similarly complex high-integrity data systems.
- At least 5 years of software development experience, including backend development with Go, Java, Rust, or C++.
- Experience designing and operating scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems with strong data consistency guarantees.
- Familiarity with real-time and batch data processing, event-driven architectures, and financial data modeling.
- Experience collaborating with Product, Finance, and non-technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong focus on data accuracy, edge cases, correctness, reliability, maintainability, monitoring, alerting, and debugging.
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering excellence and inclusive engineering culture.
- Ability to communicate complex systems and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
