Responsibilities
- Define and own the edge compute reference architecture covering virtualization, VM and container topology, storage, networking, and resource governance.
- Design the platform to support current edge workloads and future edge functions across the global gateway fleet.
- Maintain architecture documentation, platform design records, operational runbooks, and accurate hardware and software inventory.
- Build and maintain Terraform provisioning pipelines and PXE/TFTP-based boot and instance management.
- Implement Ansible configuration management and GitOps workflows for auditable, drift-free configuration across hypervisor nodes.
- Operate virtualization clusters, including VM and pod lifecycle, high availability, storage pools, virtual networking, and automated patching.
- Maintain Prometheus, Grafana, and VictoriaMetrics observability and support fleet capacity planning.
- Enforce OS hardening, PKI and certificate lifecycle, encrypted storage, access controls, and firewall rules.
- Coordinate with on-site teams and vendors on server firmware, BIOS, and RAID configuration.
- Participate in occasional after-hours incident response and coordinate with globally distributed technical teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 5 to 8 years of hands-on infrastructure or platform engineering experience focused on hypervisor administration, Linux systems, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Demonstrated experience designing and operating distributed or edge compute environments.
- Deep hands-on experience with VMware-based virtualization or Kubernetes, including cluster management, HA/DRS, virtual networking, and storage pools.
- Advanced administration of RHEL, Ubuntu, or Debian, including systemd, network tuning, performance profiling, and security hardening.
- Experience with Terraform, PXE/TFTP deployment, fleet-scale state management, Ansible, and GitOps workflows.
- Experience with Cisco or Juniper networking, VLANs, IPsec or WireGuard VPNs, PrivateLink, last-mile networking, and firewall management.
- Experience with AWS hybrid-cloud connectivity, including Direct Connect, Site-to-Site VPN, and PrivateLink integration with on-premises infrastructure.
- Experience with certificate lifecycle management, mTLS, IAM Roles Anywhere, and production-edge access control.
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, VictoriaMetrics, Docker, and Kubernetes for monitoring and containerized workloads.
- English proficiency at B2 level or above and the ability to collaborate with globally distributed teams.
- Strong platform ownership, risk awareness, remote operations discipline, technical communication, cross-functional collaboration, and incident-response skills.
