Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain internal database tooling, services, scripts, and utilities for provisioning, access management, schema changes, and operational validation.
  • Modernize legacy scripts and workflows into scalable service-based or API-driven solutions.
  • Support application teams with schema design, SQL reviews, and database development standards.
  • Implement guardrails, validations, checks, and automation that improve database performance, reliability, security, and operational consistency.
  • Participate in incident analysis and contribute code fixes or tooling enhancements to prevent recurrence.
  • Improve database platform observability through logging, monitoring integration, and tooling enhancements.
  • Collaborate with DBA, platform, infrastructure, and application engineering teams across time zones.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge-sharing forums.

Requirements

  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Perl, or Java.
  • Basic understanding of relational database concepts including tables, indexes, transactions, and SQL.
  • Familiarity with software development fundamentals including version control, code reviews, and testing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn enterprise database platforms and tooling.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based, large-scale technology environment.
  • Preferred: exposure to SQL Server, Snowflake, or similar enterprise databases.
  • Preferred: experience maintaining internal tools, scripts, or shared libraries.
  • Preferred: familiarity with APIs or automation frameworks and interest in platform engineering and reducing operational toil through code.
