Base Salary
$183k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the real-time telemetry and asset dispatch data path from the edge through streaming ingestion, the warehouse, and back to field assets.
- Define service-level objectives, freshness and gap detection, alerting, observability, escalation paths, and operational response processes.
- Manage and evolve multi-account AWS infrastructure as code using Terraform, including ECS, Lambda, networking, secrets, access controls, and supporting infrastructure.
- Build fast and trustworthy CI, hermetic test infrastructure, preview environments, progressive delivery, and automated safeguards for AI-authored changes.
- Establish cost controls and verification workflows for autonomous development systems.
- Create self-service infrastructure tools, paved paths, and platform capabilities for internal engineering teams.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for systems that dispatch instructions to physical plants.
Requirements
- Several years of experience building and operating production cloud infrastructure at scale, with strong AWS, Terraform, containers, and CI/CD expertise.
- Hands-on site reliability experience, including primary on-call responsibility and at least one completed zero-downtime migration involving a stateful, always-on service.
- Experience with real-time or physical systems, such as industrial technology, energy, robotics, or automotive.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or both, including writing and operating reliability software.
- Experience building self-service developer tooling and balancing standardization, usability, and developer autonomy.
- Regular practical use of AI coding tools and a thoughtful approach to reviewing and verifying their output.
- Experience with industrial and operational technology protocols, OT/IT boundaries, air-gapped or intermittently connected environments, or high-cardinality time-series data is valuable.
- Bonus experience includes MQTT, Sparkplug B, HiveMQ, NATS, Ignition, ClickHouse, Dagster, AI-agent developer tooling, AI cost governance, and energy markets or grid-connected assets.
