Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, reliable internal tools for Shopify teams.
- Lead technical architecture decisions while balancing immediate needs with long-term vision.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to understand user needs.
- Mentor engineers and improve the technical quality of internal systems.
- Champion effective software development practices while balancing speed, quality, and technical debt.
- Participate in on-call work when required.
Requirements
- Deep experience building and scaling web applications, particularly developer experience and internal tools.
- Ability to turn complex workflows into intuitive, powerful interfaces.
- Strong systems thinking and confidence making technical decisions.
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, React, or similar technologies.
- Ability to understand user needs and solve practical problems.
- Comfort balancing delivery speed, quality, and technical debt.
