Responsibilities

  • Integrate astrodynamics algorithms and automation into the Flight Dynamics System and Monte-propagated truth environment.
  • Productionize algorithms into maintainable operational Python and C++ software with documented interfaces, configurations, and data products.
  • Implement unit, integration, regression, scenario-based, and requirements verification and validation testing.
  • Collaborate with astrodynamics, ground systems, mission planning, and flight operations teams on architecture and operational workflows.
  • Validate capabilities through simulations, tests, and mission rehearsals; support live operations, issue triage, root-cause analysis, patches, and releases.
  • Perform operational orbit determination and mission design and contribute to flight dynamics products, reviews, rehearsals, and live operations.
  • Automate algorithm integration, testing, and flight-dynamics workflows for fleet operations, including through generative AI where useful.
  • Establish standards for algorithmic software development, testing, code review, configuration control, and lifecycle maintenance.
  • Scope, estimate, and plan work in deliverable increments using Jira and git.

Requirements

  • B.S. in aerospace engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience; M.S. with 2+ years; or Ph.D. in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge and applied experience in astrodynamics and orbital mechanics, including spacecraft mission design, trajectory analysis, maneuver planning, orbit determination, estimation, covariance analysis, or tracking-data processing.
  • Experience developing, integrating, testing, and maintaining scientific, simulation, autonomy, mission-planning, or operational software in a collaborative codebase.
  • Strong proficiency in Python or C++ and working proficiency in the other, including software design, debugging, automated testing, and performance-aware development.
  • Experience with version control, code review, automated testing, configuration management, and CI/CD or equivalent build-and-test workflows.
  • Working knowledge of spacecraft flight-dynamics workflows and configuration-controlled operational products.
  • Ability to work independently, scope ambiguous technical problems, and deliver results with minimal oversight.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Preferred experience with Monte, STK, FreeFlyer, GMAT, operational flight-dynamics or mission-critical systems, production support, mission rehearsals, live spacecraft operations, orbit determination, trajectory optimization, and maneuver execution.
  • Preferred experience with DevOps tooling, AWS services, generative AI workflow tools, distributed teams, and current TS/SCI clearance with polygraph or willingness to obtain one.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or person granted asylum.
