Base Salary
$150k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead optimization solutions from mathematical formulation through production deployment.
- Develop and improve linear, mixed-integer, quadratic, and related optimization models using techniques such as decomposition, warm starts, heuristics, and parameter tuning.
- Model electricity markets, battery energy storage systems, renewable energy assets, and distributed energy resources.
- Write clean, tested, maintainable Python software and contribute to architecture, testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment of optimization services.
- Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, data scientists, and commercial stakeholders on customer-facing optimization capabilities.
- Mentor junior engineers, establish modeling and software-development best practices, conduct code reviews, and shape the optimization platform’s technical direction.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience developing mathematical optimization models in production environments.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex optimization projects from formulation through deployment.
- Professional experience developing production software in Python and deploying optimization models into scalable production systems.
- Professional experience in the energy industry is required.
- Master’s degree or higher in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related quantitative field; a bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience may be considered.
- Battery energy storage optimization experience is strongly preferred.
- Preferred qualifications include wholesale electricity market optimization, knowledge of ISO/RTO markets such as CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, MISO, NYISO, and ISO-NE, stochastic or robust optimization, real-time decision-support systems, engineering mentorship, and a PhD in a related quantitative discipline.
