Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, integrate, and maintain embedded flight software from concept through spacecraft subsystem integration and deployment.
  • Develop and support flight software for spacecraft command, control, telemetry, and related embedded functionality.
  • Maintain HDL-based designs and integrate microcontroller-based software with FPGA, SoC, and spacecraft systems.
  • Participate in software and system architecture, requirements definition, design tradeoffs, code reviews, testing, and technical documentation.
  • Support hardware/software integration, verification, troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis across software and hardware interfaces.
  • Collaborate with electrical, FPGA, systems, test, operations, and other engineering teams.
  • Provide senior technical contribution and leadership while helping coordinate milestones, schedules, deliverables, and dependencies.
  • Support existing spacecraft systems and development of future space-based platforms.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of professional experience in embedded software, firmware, flight software, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Strong proficiency in C and C++, including C++11 or later.
  • Experience with embedded, resource-constrained, multi-threaded, and real-time software environments.
  • Experience with FPGAs and/or SoCs, HDL development, logic simulation, HDL verification, and hardware/software integration.
  • Experience with RTOS environments, with familiarity with FreeRTOS or comparable systems.
  • Experience with embedded interfaces such as RS-232, RS-485, CAN, and SPI, plus debugging interfaces such as SWD and JTAG.
  • Ability to use Linux command-line development tools and contemporary source-control, testing, code-review, issue-tracking, and continuous-integration workflows.
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot circuit diagrams and electrical schematics and use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent combinations of education and professional experience may be considered.
  • Preferred experience includes STM32, Python, Bash, Ruby, CMake, Ninja, cross-compilation toolchains, aerospace or spacecraft systems, robotics, autonomous systems, and reliable or mission-critical embedded applications.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organization, technical leadership, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
