Responsibilities
- Build and contribute to the Java development team and help evolve software engineering practices.
- Design, implement, and optimize scalable full stack solutions with low latency and high availability.
- Migrate legacy code to a Java-based web platform.
- Develop frontend applications with ReactJS, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Develop and integrate APIs and RESTful or SOAP web services using JSON and XML.
- Work with SQL Server databases and cloud technologies.
- Create and update technical and user documentation and present monthly to stakeholders.
- Debug and troubleshoot applications, evaluate emerging technologies, and recommend open-source libraries.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders and other developers.
- Provide solutions that support changing stakeholder needs and organizational technology frameworks.
Requirements
- Be a current third-year degree student required to complete an internship or work placement as part of the degree program or coursework.
- Return to studies after the internship and provide confirmation that the placement is a course requirement.
- Have a December 2027 or later graduation date.
- Have 3+ years of experience working with ReactJS and strong knowledge of frontend technologies.
- Have experience with Spring or similar Java frameworks, including architecture, design, and programming.
- Have experience with SQL Server databases and Java.
- Have strong API development and integration experience, including RESTful and SOAP web services and JSON/XML.
- Have experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud technologies.
- Have familiarity with Windows and Linux fundamentals and working knowledge of PowerShell.
- Have database-backed web services development and platform migration experience.
- Have strong debugging, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Have experience with code versioning tools such as Git or SVN.
- Hold a BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related field, or have comparable experience such as coding bootcamp training.
- Experience with multi-process architecture and data protection or security features is preferred.
