Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services in Rust, including REST APIs, data models, database schemas, and service-to-service integrations.
- Research unfamiliar APIs, SDKs, cloud services, and enterprise technologies to recommend integration approaches.
- Own technical design and architectural decisions for new capabilities, with attention to scalability, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.
- Take features through implementation, testing, deployment, production validation, and ongoing support.
- Diagnose and resolve complex production issues across application, integration, database, and infrastructure layers.
- Partner with Product Management and engineering teams to refine requirements and evaluate technical trade-offs.
- Support customers and internal teams with complex technical issues and collaborate with a globally distributed engineering team.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant backend development experience.
- Strong hands-on programming experience in Rust, C++, or Go; production Rust experience is preferred.
- Experience designing and building production backend services and REST APIs.
- Experience designing database schemas and data models and working with application data-access layers.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs, SDKs, cloud services, or enterprise platforms.
- Ability to research ambiguous technical problems and turn findings into technical designs and implementation plans.
- Experience diagnosing performance, scalability, and complex multi-component production issues.
- Experience owning software through design, implementation, testing, deployment, production validation, and ongoing support.
- Ability to work effectively with Product Management and engineering teams in a distributed environment.
- Helpful experience includes Kubernetes, containers, cloud-native deployments, AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, Alibaba Cloud, cybersecurity, cryptography, key management, certificate management, observability products, and high-growth product environments.
