Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design, implementation, delivery, operation, and evolution of complex internal platform capabilities.
- Build developer-facing APIs, SDKs, CLIs, module frameworks, and managed platform services.
- Design secure distributed systems across isolated AWS accounts and multi-tenant environments.
- Implement cross-account communication, identity and access management, provisioning automation, event-driven processing, retries, reconciliation, and service discovery.
- Create reusable abstractions that enable teams to build data products, applications, and AI-powered solutions without managing underlying cloud infrastructure.
- Design and harden authenticated service-to-service communication, cryptographic signing, signature verification, replay protection, and least-privilege access patterns.
- Establish architecture standards, interface and data contracts, testing expectations, infrastructure-as-code practices, and observability requirements.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership through architecture discussions, design reviews, code reviews, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Own production reliability, observability, SLOs, on-call participation, incident investigation, and improvements that reduce operational toil.
- Use AI-assisted development tools and build AI-augmented platform capabilities integrating LLMs, AI agents, and managed AI services.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production distributed systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience owning complex software components and systems throughout their lifecycle and leading technical initiatives.
- Deep expertise in AWS cloud-native architecture, including identity and access management, serverless compute, API layers, managed data stores, event-driven services, and cloud security primitives.
- Strong understanding of distributed-systems concepts including idempotency, at-least-once delivery, eventual consistency, retries, backoff strategies, and failure-mode analysis.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform, continuous integration, automated testing, software deployment, and infrastructure as code.
- Applied security engineering experience with authenticated service-to-service communication, mTLS, cryptographic signing and verification, identity management, replay protection, least-privilege access, and multi-tenant isolation.
- Proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js or the ability to become productive with these technologies quickly.
- Experience with RESTful APIs built with Node.js and consuming REST and GraphQL APIs.
- Exposure to front-end technologies such as React, Angular, or Vue and back-end technologies such as Node.js or Python.
- Experience with SQL and database technologies such as PostgreSQL or DynamoDB.
- Experience using Git for source control and versioning.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools, agentic tooling, LLM integrations, AI-agent integrations, and managed AI services.
- Ability to make architectural decisions, guide complex engineering work through production, communicate technical direction, provide feedback, and mentor engineers.
- Preferred experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms, cross-account control planes, internal developer platforms, SDKs, OpenTelemetry, schema-driven interface validation, multi-cloud architectures, containers, greenfield platform environments, and operational or data-intensive industries.
