Responsibilities
- Lead Uber’s approach to securing AI systems, including LLMs, agents, and next-generation infrastructure.
- Develop strategies for access management, monitoring, and threat detection for AI systems.
- Design, prototype, and ship secure systems, tools, frameworks, and libraries.
- Provide technical leadership across identity, access, data protection, secure networking, and AI or agentic systems.
- Drive long-term architecture decisions focused on security, scalability, and developer velocity.
- Investigate security incidents, debug complex codebases, and solve challenging security problems.
- Partner with infrastructure, product engineering, AI/ML, and business teams to integrate security practices.
- Mentor senior engineers and influence engineering practices and technical culture across the organization.
- Track emerging threats and technologies, including cloud security, AI agents, zero trust, and supply chain security.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering with deep expertise in security.
- Proven track record as a technical leader who drives design, influences architecture, and mentors senior engineers.
- Expertise in one or more of secure systems design, applied cryptography, cloud security, identity and access management, zero trust architecture, or AI/agentic security.
- Hands-on experience building or securing AI/ML platforms, LLMs, or agentic systems.
- Strong coding skills in Go, Python, Java, C++, or Rust.
- Experience building scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure and developer tooling.
- Ability to investigate complex problems, dive into codebases, and debug effectively.
- Strong communication and executive, peer, and engineering influence skills.
- Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred: Experience in rapidly scaling technology environments and taking security products from zero to one.

- Seattle- and Sunnyvale-based roles offer a base salary range of USD $302,000–$336,000 per year.
