Responsibilities
- Create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse software code to deliver features and improve performance, maintainability, and effectiveness.
- Determine user requirements with stakeholders and drive feature, product, application, service, or platform delivery across multiple teams.
- Lead design documentation, development completion, project plans, release plans, and work items in partnership with product managers and other stakeholders.
- Act as a Designated Responsible Individual, guide engineers, monitor services on call, communicate degradation or downtime, and initiate restoration actions.
- Improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, performance, monitoring, and operations at scale.
- Adopt AI-first development practices and contribute to Microsoft’s culture and values.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
- At least 8 years of software engineering and product development experience in industry.
- At least 8 years of experience shipping end-user software services or products.
- At least 8 years of in-depth object-oriented programming experience in Java, C++, C#, or related languages.
- Ability to read and enhance existing code and write new code from scratch.
- Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud Background Check requirements upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Preferred: master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline, experience with open-source software components, continuous integration and flighting services toolsets, and Service Fabric or Kubernetes.
- Preferred: curiosity, collaboration, customer empathy, problem-solving ability, integrity, ingenuity, self-motivation, and resourcefulness.
