Responsibilities
- Own technical strategy and roadmap execution over a 1+ year horizon, including platform architecture, executive communication, mentorship, and cross-team influence.
- Lead the design, development, and productionization of end-to-end ML solutions for large-scale distributed systems serving billions of trips.
- Develop pricing approaches for online marketplaces using machine learning, algorithmic game theory, and optimization.
- Design and deploy ML models and pricing algorithms involving deep learning, causal modeling, reinforcement learning, and mathematical optimization.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and scientists to deliver high-impact solutions to complex marketplace problems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or Operations Research, or equivalent technical background with exceptional demonstrated impact.
- 6+ years of experience leading the development and deployment of ML models and optimization algorithms in large-scale production environments.
- Track record of delivering significant business impact across multiple quarters and working with systems serving at least 1 million predictions per second or 100 million users.
- Proficiency in Python, Scala, Java, or Go; large-scale data systems such as Spark or Ray; real-time processing such as Flink; and microservices architectures.
- Experience developing, training, productionizing, and monitoring ML solutions at scale, from offline pipelines through online serving and MLOps.
- Experience deploying pricing algorithms for multi-sided real-time marketplaces with strategic agent behavior.
- Deep understanding of modern ML algorithms, including deep neural networks, multi-task models, and transformers, as well as mathematical optimization such as multi-objective, linear programming, and convex optimization.
- Preferred qualifications include multi-year technical strategy, cross-team platform architecture, technical roadmap ownership, complex project leadership, cross-functional influence, strong communication, and reinforcement learning and causal machine learning expertise.
Benefits
- Base salary of USD $232,000-$258,000 per year for roles based in New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, or Sunnyvale.
- Eligibility for Uber’s bonus program and possible equity awards and other compensation.
