Base Salary
$182k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own major portions of the embedded firmware stack for the Charlie induction range through development, production, deployment, and field support.
- Design, implement, and test firmware features on real appliances.
- Improve device connectivity and reliability across Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, OTA updates, provisioning, and failure recovery.
- Own fleet management, telemetry, remote control, and scalable data-flow systems.
- Support manufacturing firmware needs, flashing stations, provisioning workflows, and end-of-line test systems.
- Build tooling, testing, and infrastructure for a growing device fleet and engineering team.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, debugging support, and technical collaboration.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of hands-on experience developing and supporting embedded systems, including products shipped to production and customer fleets.
- Deep experience with connected embedded products, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, TCP/IP, and application-layer protocols such as MQTT, HTTPS, or CoAP.
- Strong understanding of OTA update systems and bootloader design.
- Excellent command of embedded C; C++ experience is a plus.
- Hands-on experience developing FreeRTOS-based systems, including task design, timing, memory management, and runtime debugging.
- Experience integrating embedded systems with cloud infrastructure, REST APIs, data pipelines, and fleet telemetry.
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing, software-in-the-loop testing, automated CI, and unit testing.
- Track record of shipping multiple embedded products and supporting them over the long term.
- Strong technical communication and cross-functional collaboration skills across electrical, mechanical, cloud, and product teams.
- Ability to operate in ambiguity, make engineering tradeoffs, and own outcomes.
