Base Salary

$78k - $156k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead embedded software development, verification, and validation activities while meeting delivery, budgetary, quality, and regulatory objectives.
  • Design, develop, test, document, and maintain embedded software throughout the medical device software lifecycle.
  • Lead technical teams, mentor less experienced engineers, and provide technical guidance on software development and maintenance.
  • Implement software design controls in accordance with FDA guidelines and support conformance with IEC 62304 and IEC 60601 standards.
  • Design test methods, verify system and component capabilities, document results, and provide technical support for testing, manufacturing, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers on requirements, design, testing, system bring-up, and design reviews.
  • Work with quality, regulatory, marketing, manufacturing, external suppliers, manufacturers, physicians, customers, and notified bodies.
  • Identify breakthrough technical solutions and improve software development tools and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 10 years of engineering or related experience, or relevant experience alternatives including at least 5 years of software engineering experience or a related master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, with preferred experience levels of 7 years with a bachelor’s degree or 5 years with a master’s degree.
  • Advanced programming experience in C, C++, C#, or Python, including C for embedded systems and ARM-based microcontrollers.
  • Experience with systems engineering in a medical product development environment and debugging embedded hardware.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems design, embedded firmware, communication protocols, motors, RFID, sensors, and microprocessor-based systems.
  • Experience or ability to develop data acquisition and data processing solutions, with advanced data analytics and data-driven solution skills preferred.
  • Preferred experience with analog and digital circuit design and detailed knowledge of IEC 62304 and IEC 60601-1.
  • Preferred experience designing and implementing CI/CD and HIL pipelines for embedded projects.
  • Ability to lead complex software development efforts, communicate effectively, manage multiple responsibilities, and work with cross-functional and external stakeholders.
  • Experience using AI to draft requirements and documentation, write unit tests, conduct code reviews, and refactor code is preferred.

  • The role includes approximately 10% travel and follows a standard work shift.
  • The base pay range is $78,000.00–$156,000.00.
