Responsibilities
- Solve organization-wide technical problems by defining, implementing, and driving adoption of solutions.
- Lead cross-team architectural work involving foundational platforms, multiple services, performance, integrations, and AI capabilities.
- Review designs, identify architectural risks, and drive migrations, deprecations, and platform investments.
- Set technical standards through code, design documents, technical reviews, and clear influence.
- Evaluate and guide AI-native approaches while considering cost, latency, reliability, explainability, and maintainability.
- Own operational health through proactive reliability, observability, performance, and incident-management work.
- Improve engineering effectiveness through technical mentorship, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Significant industry experience as a software engineering individual contributor, with recent experience operating at Staff scope or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ownership of production system architecture and structural technical decisions.
- Concrete evidence of cross-team technical influence and adoption of technical patterns or proposals.
- Direct production ownership with experience improving reliability, observability, or operations.
- Experience leading production incident response, post-incident reviews, and preventive improvements.
- Strong written technical communication through design documents, RFCs, or technical proposals.
- Depth in at least one domain such as multi-tenant SaaS, integration-heavy platforms, workflow or rules engines, configuration-driven architectures, real-time analytics, data pipelines, or platform infrastructure.
- A record of simplifying systems through deprecations, removing unnecessary abstractions, and pragmatic technology choices.
- Preferred: 9+ years of software engineering experience with multiple years at Staff scope or equivalent.
- Preferred: experience with large-scale migrations, AWS, scalable architectural patterns, product analytics, systems-level open-source contributions, published technical writing, customer-configurable products, or revenue enablement technologies.
