Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize low-latency Java and Rust applications and frameworks, with approximately 90% hands-on coding.
- Build microservices-based, event-sourced systems with response times in the 10–100 microsecond range.
- Develop algorithmic trading utilities, including market data replay and back-testing or simulation tools.
- Lead integration of functions, deploy new products, enhance processes, and implement technology projects.
- Analyze business and system processes and industry standards to develop solutions to complex problems.
- Provide expertise in Java low-latency development, system flows, application design, and performance tuning.
- Consult with end users to define system specifications and incorporate them into system designs.
- Communicate with senior leaders and external parties and help build consensus.
- Mentor junior developers and less experienced senior Java developers.
- Produce diagrammatic documentation and model system aspects using UML sequence diagrams when needed.
Requirements
- Subject-matter expertise in application development.
- In-depth experience developing algorithmic trading applications, preferably in low-latency environments.
- Detailed experience handling market data and related technologies, such as KDB time-series databases.
- Strong modern Java, JVM, Linux operating system, system call, and kernel knowledge.
- Knowledge of TCP and other IP-based network protocols, including hardware-accelerated kernel bypass technologies such as Solarflare OpenOnload.
- Experience with performance assessment and targeted tuning.
- Strong Java framework development experience for commercial-grade, mission-critical systems based on event sourcing.
- Demonstrated leadership, project management, development, communication, relationship-building, and consensus-building skills.
- Experience implementing technology projects and creating clear technical documentation.
- Background in C++ is preferred.
